How I Got Started....

It started so long ago. In fact it was in 1986 that I had met Candace. We became friends instantly. She had told me that she used to decorate cakes when her girls were small, that she didn't need any of her cake decorating supplies anymore and wanted to know if I would be interested in learning from her the basic fundamentals of cake decorating. I said, Thanks, but not really. I don't have a creative bone in my body; Candace said she would be available when I was ready. She saw something I certainly didn't. So it came time for my daughter's 2nd birthday, and went to the local grocery store/bakery and ordered a cake. I was horrified when I brought the cake home. It was ugly, and it tasted horrid. I called my friend Candace to see if she was still interested in teaching me, she came right over. I had then made a vow to myself that I would NEVER buy another grocery store/bakery cake ever again. My daughter is now 23 years old. She is my youngest. I have 2 older sons, they all grew up having the most awesome birthday cakes ever. I bought books, taught myself, found local businesses that would offer cake decorating classes and I took those classes. All 3 of my children know how to decorate a cake. Remember when I mentioned that I made a vow that I would NEVER buy a store/bakery cake? Well, I haven't!!!!

  2. I remembered something last night - I was so inspired by the cakes you have created over the years that I wanted to make a cake for my daughters and grandsons. For Lynette and TIffany's cakes I made pretty cakes with flowers and for Jared I made a Scooby Do cake. It was fun but I haven't had the opportunity to make any more. But who knows - I just may do another one soon.
